Here We Go...

It's finally that time. My bags are all packed (well...almost), and tomorrow I commence my journey to the unknown.  That being said, my arrival in Nairobi might be somewhat anticlimactic after two days of travelling to get there.  I begin my journey on a brief flight to JFK where I will meet up with the rest of my group from St Lawrence University.  Together, we'll fly to London where we'll spend most of the day before continuing on to Nairobi.
To pass my time in the air, I've decided to invest in a Kindle.  I was told by previous trip participants to load up on books because there is a lot of down time at the compound where I'll be staying.  My first purchases (of the finest, most intellectually stimulating texts) include all three of Chelsea Handler's books as well as the book that her friends and family wrote about her, the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, Mindy Kaling's autobiography, and the Hunger Games trilogy.  Thank goodness I'll come back from this once in a lifetime experience with a newfound appreciation for crude humor and sadomasochism, with the vocabulary of a fourth grader. Don't worry Mom, I did purchase some more substantial books as well...to read after I've finished the others of course.
Well that's it for my initial attempt at being witty. Fingers crossed that I have more interesting material once I arrive in Kenya.  I could not be more excited to begin this journey.  I can only hope that these next four months will be filled with fun, adventure, and spontaneity. See you all on the other side. Kwaheri ya kuonana!
